Port Ludlow Fire Chief Ed Wilkerson submits letter of resignation on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.

Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Ed Wilkerson submitted a letter of resignation to the Board of Fire Commissioners on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.  Chief Wilkerson is leaving Port Ludlow to become the Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Vista Fire District in Tucson, Arizona.  Wilkerson has served as the Fire Chief of Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue for the past six years and has been an active member of a number of fire service and community organizations to include President of the East Jefferson Fire Chiefs Association, JeffCom 911 board member, East Jefferson Rotary Club member and board member and current President of United Good Neighbors of Jefferson County.

Wilkerson stated in his letter that the members of Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue “are professional, well trained firefighters, paramedics and support staff who time and time again, deliver what the citizens want, fast and proficient emergency service”.  He went on to say that he “could not be more proud to have led this District over the past several years” and expressed his thanks to the Board for their support and leadership.

Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue Commissioners will discuss Chief Wilkerson’s resignation at a special meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners on Wednesday, September 21, 2011.  The meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Station 31, 7650 Oak Bay Road, Port Ludlow, WA.

Gene Carmody, Board Chair stated that “on the one hand, we regret losing Chief Wilkerson who has given us six years of outstanding leadership.  He has taken PLF&R to a higher level in the delivery of emergency services to the Port Ludlow citizens.  On the other hand we also are happy for the Chief and his lovely wife Sally as they move on to the next phase of their lives and we wish them well".
